Thinking about getting contact lenses. Anything I should know? Where is best to get them?
I'm in the UK. I only wear glasses for my driving lessons at the moment. I'm supposed to wear them for reading/ watching TV/ lectures and all of that too, but I never do. I'm too self conscious and glasses don't suit me at all!
I've noticed that my eyes are getting worse... It's only noticeable when I'm driving though... So I need to book an appointment with the opticians anyway. Since I'm not entitled to NHS optician (opticianal?) treatment anymore, should I shell out for the new lenses, or just go for contacts?
Where's best to get them? Since I need to pay for the eye test too, where's best to go. I've been using Boots, but I wouldn't mind going somewhere that's better value for money!

Places like Asda are getting quite good at the cheap opticians - I'm with Specsavers which aren't bad but I'm thinking of swapping. If you went for daily contacts and you don't need to wear them all the time, you can get them in smaller packs, like 20 per month instead of 30. If you join a plan and pay by direct debit you also get all your sight tests and aftercare free.
You should always have glasses for emergencies when wearing contacts, so if your prescription has only change slightly you can still keep your old glasses and you won't have to shell out for new lenses.
