why are circle contact lenses web sites are closing?
there are a few popular web sites that was selling contact lenses and now they don't sell them anymore why is that? i know they are bad for your eyes but a lot of people don't care (like me) i was doing research and i saw somewhere that someone wrote that pretty and cute was celling them privately. why? whats going on?
Circle lenses are not bad for your eyes! You just have to take care of them just like other contact lenses. Yes, they are thicker and restrict more oxygen to your eyes, but that's why it's suggested you only wear them for 6-8 hours MAX a day!
The reason some sites are closing is because circle lenses are not approved by the FDA. That means they're illegal to sell in the USA, which is why you can't buy them in any store/doctor's office in America. Which is also why people buy them online.
The buying online thing is a problem because you're supposed to go to the doctor to get contact lenses, as well as get your eyes measured and everything. I think for places like 1800contacts, they still contact your doctor. My point is, you're not supposed to just get them by yourself. Circle lenses buyers do exactly that, and a lot of people think that's a problem. Part of the reason is because many people don't go to the doctor to get their eyes checked out. Even if you have 20/20 vision, you need your base curve checked and everything. Another part of the reason is that people who've never had contacts don't really learn how to wear them, take care of them, etc. When you go to the doctor, they inform you of everything, and more or less, you're educated. Anyone can buy lenses online, and an alarmingly amount of young people ignore the guidelines.
I'm not sure about prettyandcute.com, but I have heard that some sellers are shutting down because of crackdowns by optometrists (or, well, an organization of optometrists or something). There was a mini discussion about it last time I was at the Soompi thread, and the general consensus is that while some sites are shutting down, it's not such a big issue that everyone is going to disappear or anything.
